In conjunction with IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom 2026), 16-20 March, 2026.
"Human-Centered Telemedicine and e-Health"
Telemedicine and e-Health can contribute to the evolution of medical services by addressing contemporary patient and medical needs concerning inclusivity and well-being within the digital society. Indeed, leveraging the current evolution in the field of Pervasive Computing and Communications, Telemedicine and e-Health can improve the life quality of patients and the quality of the received care by bridging the geographical gap between medical professionals and healthcare facilities, thereby fostering a more inclusive healthcare paradigm. Specifically, telemedicine tools, systems, and methodologies can provide crucial support for aging individuals, chronic patients, and those residing in remote areas who face considerable disadvantages due to extended distances from medical centers, thus overcoming societal and logistical barriers to accessing primary medical care, treatments, and therapie, also providing solutions for the advanced diagnostics, making the right to access healthcare one of the primary values of a society targeting inclusivity of the population.
The TELMED Workshop will investigate the design, realisation and assessment of innovative computing, networking, and communication technologies as enablers to improve and sustain the access to various medical services all supporting and promoting a more inclusive remote health care. These technologies coupled or embedded in medical protocols or devices can answer these new challenges, stimulating the introduction of new products, systems, devices, and tools for ensuring a continuous, efficient, effective, and inclusive health monitoring and medical assistance, both supporting patients at their home, including those living in remote areas, and citizens accessing primary care, also fostering new medical capabilities in hospitals.
Authors of academia and industry are encouraged to submit full papers describing original, previously unpublished research results, not currently under review by another conference or journal, addressing forefront research and development in the area of Telemedicine and e-Health with a particular focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:
- Technologies and applications in support of medical services: field trials, solutions, systems, models, applications in support of medical services to ensure the access to medical or primary cares promoting the inclusiveness of all the citizens, in particular of weaker and disadvantaged categories (elderly people, pregnancies and infants, minorities, poor and marginalized people, people living in remote areas, non-digital literate people), and also to reduce hospitalization.
- Technologies and applications enabling remote medical monitoring and tutoring: Telemedicine and e-Health to support critical and chronic patients. Telediagnosis solutions.
- Telecommunications and Networking technologies in support to Telemedicine and e-Health , also including implanted, ingestible and bionano devices communication.
- Advanced data elaboration techniques: Artificial Intelligence, Data Fusion, Electronic Patient Record systems and context elaboration in Telemedicine and e-Health.
- Standardization of Body Area Networks .
- Security and privacy issues in Telemedicine and e-Health.
Each accepted workshop paper requires a full PerCom registration. No registration for workshop only is available. Papers without a valid full registration that are not presented in-person will be excluded from the proceedings.
Workshop papers will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital libraries (Xplore) and in Scopus Database.
